"It is not possible for us to change the world by raising children who are far from technology, science and art, on the contrary, we need children who understand these concepts better than we do and use them correctly."
If we continue to leave the decisions about technology to policy makers and companies, we are in a bad situation. Only you can protect your children's interests and teach them how to do it. In order to do this, you need to understand what they are dealing with, there is no escape from this unfortunately.
If you are interested in the type of chemicals in the cake your child eats, the licenses of the software and hardware he or she uses should also attract you.
Most of the parents who come to us with the complaint of "playing the computer" do not know what their children are doing at the computer. When we ask what software they are using, it is not a good answer to say "there is a computer". Actually, the subject is not so complicated, there are some things you need to pay attention to. We hope that this book will be useful not only for your child but also for you. Long live producing together! Long live the mistake! Long live curiosity!
Hakan Atas & Bager Akbay
little friend,
I am someone who has been rewarded with the greatest gift in this world, CURIOSITY . I've been wondering about everything my whole life. I didn't give up until I found out.
I kept looking for answers to millions of questions such as what is inside the radio or television, how does the water come out of the tap, what heats the hot water in the bathroom, where does the sun go down, how many legs does a house fly have, how does a car engine work, how to play the flute, how to tune a mandolin? I'm never tired, I'm not satisfied, I'm not tired. I still continue to wonder and learn with a great appetite.
When I was a kid, the radio was a very precious thing. I had ruined ours while poking around, but I found out what was inside. I also 'more or less' understood what those strange little pieces were for. I saw different people and countries in the pictures in the books. I got to know the animal world through the flies and insects I hunted with biscuit boxes. This curiosity has always taught me that fire burns my hand, electricity gets shocked, and some drugs make people bad.
I saw a musical instrument on TV and was fascinated. They called it the law. My father cut a triangular board. He drove nails, stretched wires between them and made a law for me. My father is not a carpenter; was an officer. So he showed me that anyone can make something with their own hands.
That's how I discovered how to make drums from nylon buckets and cymbals from pot lids. It brightened my life when I saw that the tiny light bulb I removed from the wall clock turned on when I connected it to the end of the battery.
When I learned to read, I encountered things that I would never have thought of in books. People I've never met, in places I've never known, have done things I've never heard of.
So I could too!
Every new piece of information I learned made me a little more curious. I've read everything I can get my hands on. When there was nothing left to read, I wandered around our neighbors and collected magazines, books and newspapers. I continue to read and learn every chance I get.
At this time, in your place, I would love to be a child again. Do you realize what a great gift it is to find the answer to everything you wonder on the internet? It should also be nice not to have to line up pot lids to play the drums or go door to door to learn something.
Looking at your possibilities, my childhood seems like the stone age. But you also have a big responsibility. We did not have a tablet, a computer, but we made tablets and computers for you. So what are you going to do with those tablets and computers?
Wonder, research and build a better world for all of us with what you learn. Make a more comfortable chair, a faster plane, a more capable robot, a quieter engine, a faster computer, a better-sounding harmonica, a more fun game, a less painful needle, a chocolate that doesn't rot the teeth, a pasta that doesn't make you fat.
Good luck with!
M. Serdar Kuzuloglu
