"Writing a "book" about fast-growing startups (gazelles) and thus trying to predict which startups might turn into unicorns is probably one of the dumbest things to do. When you make predictions based on a small data set, you're open to both Type 1 and Type 2 mistakes, and you're not only prone to Type 1 and Type 2 errors, but also for entrepreneurship. Due to its nature, it turns out very quickly that you made a mistake. I have no doubt that we did not include some of the initiatives that will be considered as the most successful initiatives at the end of 2020. What is worse, some initiatives in the book may not even see 2020. I am aware of all these limitations, but this is a future. Not a prediction book. A book to celebrate our entrepreneurs who are doing well as of the end of 2018 and learn from their experiences.
In the first part of the book, we have interviews with entrepreneurs. What I particularly want to draw your attention to in this chapter is that there is no single path to success in an enterprise. In the second part, there are contributions from guest writers. We asked for an article from people I know who have met many young entrepreneurs. We asked some authors to write about the entrepreneurship ecosystem and other players in the ecosystem. In order to keep the book of reasonable length, I have included only one of my own writings, the rest will be published online.
This book was supposed to be a living book because the enterprises in it are alive. Therefore , we have opened a place for every initiative in the book on the book's website ( isteceylanlar.com ). Thus, readers will be able to follow each one easily and our followers will be able to discuss these initiatives on our site. One of my advice to students interested in entrepreneurship is to choose a few startups and follow them. Thanks to this book and the book's website, entrepreneur candidates will have the opportunity to follow 32 startups.''
