With the development of the Internet, the direction of the economy began to change. The traditional understanding of economy has begun to leave its place to the digital economy, which contains many unknowns. We are now able to order meals over the internet and even call a taxi using a mobile application. The number of digital transformation stories that we read with amazement started to increase day by day.
We are passing through a time when a brand that has no taxis invests in the taxi industry, and a brand that has no location is the world's largest rental car service. The value of a candy-themed game can exceed the combined value of all candy factories in the country. This change and transformation also revealed a new phenomenon called the "startup" culture. In this culture, a startup produced by a few employees in 2009 can be sold for $19 billion after only 5 years. How big if we consider that this is equivalent to NASA's 2017 budget. We can see again how important it is.
Our country is on the way to become an important country in the world with a great leap forward by overcoming every obstacle one by one, even though obstacles have been put in front of it repeatedly since 2002. It is known that the exit from the level defined as the middle income trap in the world can only be achieved by giving importance to R&D and technology investments. Our government has accelerated its work on this issue and is on the way to produce domestic and national technology in basic areas such as defense industry and medical device equipment.
Extending the use of information technologies to all socio-economic fields, maximizing the level of information literacy in our country, increasing information-based production, research and innovation activities are important for the sustainable development of our country and increase in social welfare.
Today, digital entrepreneurs from all over Anatolia can provide important export inputs to the country and strengthen our national and domestic stance.
