This book is the result of a project trying to analyze the way users present themselves on Instagram. In the research carried out in May 2019, the profiles of eight different Instagram phenomena were analyzed with the random sampling method. The "self-presentation analysis form" developed by Erving Goffman was used to analyze the Instagram profiles, focusing on the differences between the first and last posts of the phenomena to see how Instagram changed the self-presentation. In addition, face-to-face structured interviews with fourteen phenomena were used to test the analysis results. has been carried out.
Research results show that phenomenal users use social media platforms to keep the communication channel open with their followers. These platforms, which are used as a communication tool, transform the phenomenon users into the profile desired by the followers. The digital actions of this transformation are the concern of gaining likes, comments and new followers. Aesthetics of likes and follower anxiety; While the phenomenon transforms users into someone new outside of themselves, it sometimes alienates them from themselves. It is observed that there are huge differences between the self presented by the phenomenon users at the beginning and the self presentations after becoming a phenomenon. Finally, Instagram causes many changes in the daily lives of the phenomenon users.
